OnPoint Vision Clinical Study

Intracapsular lens technology, an investigational treatment to treat NEAR vision in patients with AMD (Age Related Macular Degeneration) without compromising DISTANCE vision

Age-related Macular Degeneration is the leading cause of irreversible vision loss in adults over 55, affecting nearly 20 million Americans. If you, or you know someone over the age of 55 who has had cataract surgery at least 6- months ago and has been diagnosed with AMD but still struggles to read, this clinical trial may be of interest to you, your family, or a friend.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is an eye disease that can blur your central vision. It happens when aging causes damage to the macula. The macula is at the back of the eye and lets you see small details to focus on specific objects. The macula converts light into signals that is transmitted to your brain to create images for clear sharp vision. AMD blurs those images making it harder to complete daily tasks and recognize faces. Lines that look wavy are an early warning sign for AMD.

What is Macular Degeneration?

Blurred or distorted vision: This can be a blurred spot in the center of your vision that gets larger and darker over time.

Straight lines appear wavy or crooked.

Difficulty seeing in low lighting: You might need more light to read or do everyday tasks. Colors may also seem less bright.

Seeing things that are not there (hallucinations)

Loss of central vision: This can make it difficult to drive, read, recognize faces, and perform close-up work

Onpoint Vision is participating in a research study to evaluate an investigational Intracapsular lens (IOPCL) for patients with age related macular degeneration otherwise known as AMD to improve near vision without compromising your distance vision. This intracapsular lens has a magnified central zone that allows you improve your near vision, reducing your dependency on glasses or magnifiers.

This study is being conducted at 4 clinical centers of excellence. The clinical investigators chosen to participate in this study are renowned physicians and leaders in the ophthalmic community.

There is no charge to participate in an evaluation to see if you, your family or friends would be a candidate for this study.
